Drawings

Before the canvases there is the paper. Keerthi's drawings run from quick gestural sketches of seated figures to fully resolved tonal heads: a girl with her hair in bunches, an older woman veiled in a ghoonghat, a bride heavy with jewellery and a nose ring. The charcoals are broader and more emotive, among them a tender Mother and Child. Line and shading here are the root of everything in the painted work.
