A bride is shown weighed with ornament: a jewelled tikka hangs at her forehead, a ring pierces her nose, and a patterned veil frames the face and spills over one shoulder. She balances a vessel on her head, indicated at the top of the sheet.
The head is richly modelled, the large upturned eyes and full lips built from careful tonal layering, while the diamond motifs of the veil are picked out in crisp detail. A completely realised drawing, the likeness alive and direct.
