Single Bud, Bright Water

A small square of bright blue water carries a cluster of flat, cleanly shaped pads across its upper half in teal, cream, orange, maroon and green. The leaves overlap into a loose mosaic and thin towards the open foreground.

At the left a single pink bud stands upright on its stem, closed and slender, the sole bloom among the tiling of leaves. The generous sweep of plain blue below gives the little painting an airy, unhurried poise.
