Cream Vase with Wildflowers

A rounded cream vase holds a loose spray of orange nasturtiums, purple lavender and a yellow bloom, set on a table swathed in grey-green cloth that hangs like a curtain behind it. A small blue tumbler and a dark red block sit to either side.

Worked in transparent washes, the study lets the white of the paper carry the light on the vase's belly, while the drapery is built in cool, granulating greys. The handling is fluid and quick, a watercolour exercise in soft folds and simple volumes.
