Copper Coffee Pot with Blue Plate and Vegetables

A tall lidded copper coffee pot presides at the centre, its warm metal set against a large blue-and-white floral plate stood on edge and a sweep of deep blue drapery. A red bell pepper, a glass bowl of green apples, a terracotta jug, a lidded steel pot, a carrot, a tomato and slim green chillies are ranged across the cloth.

The painter builds a full academic exercise in contrasting materials - beaten metal, glazed china, matte earthenware and taut vegetable skin - and lets the blue cloth and warm brown wall frame the whole in complementary heat and cool.
